Hydronic Baseboard Heater Retrofitting Guide

Step 1:  Distance between the finished floor and the top of the baseboard heater.

(Objective: Between 7-1/2" and 9")

Note: If this measurement is less than 7-1/2", the alternative mounting method that uses wall brackets will be needed.

If it is over 9" in height, the XL or Tall profile should be used.

Step 2:  Distance between the bottom of the finned tube heating element and the top of the baseboard heater.

(Objective: Between 5" and 6-3/4".)

Note: If this measurement is less than 5" it suggests the floor to top height is less than 7-1/2" as noted in step 1. wall brackets should be used in this case to bring the height up for proper coverage.

Step 3: Distance between the outside face of the finned tube heating element and the back plate.

(Objective: 3" or less.)

Note: It is very uncommon to fail this final check. However, occasionally older commercial style baseboard radiators will utilize a 4" x 4" element.
